Designed by Fernando and Humberto Campana for Edra, the Favela Lounge Chair is an expressive and unconventional take on seating, rooted in experimentation and handcraft. Inspired by the improvised architecture of Brazilian favelas, the chair is built up from hundreds of irregular solid Brazilian pine wood strips, assembled by hand into a layered, sculptural form.
Each chair is inherently unique. The overlapping wood pieces create a rich texture and visual depth, blurring the line between furniture and object. Though visually dynamic, the chair is thoughtfully constructed to be sturdy and functional, offering a surprisingly comfortable place to sit.
With its compact proportions — 29⅛" W × 26¼" D × 29⅛" H — the Favela chair works as a statement piece in a living room, studio, or collection-focused interior. Its raw materiality and expressive construction give it a strong presence without relying on polish or symmetry.
