Designed by Gino Sarfatti in 1969 and reissued by Astep, the Model 2129 pendant lamp is a striking example of Sarfatti’s ability to unite technical ingenuity with visual lightness. Conceived as a droplight luminaire, the design balances sculptural presence with exceptional flexibility.
A large arc-shaped arm in transparent methacrylate is fixed to the ceiling and rotates 360 degrees horizontally, allowing the light to shift easily in response to the space. A discreet counterweight balances the composition, while the cup-shaped reflector—formed from two lathed aluminum elements finished in white and caviar grey—directs a warm, intimate pool of light. Painted brass details at the ceiling fitting and counterweight add subtle material contrast and refinement.
In the reissue, the original incandescent source has been updated with LED lighting, preserving the character of the design while adapting it for contemporary use. Both functional and sculptural, Model 2129 brings a quiet sense of movement and architectural clarity to an interior.
